Ratatouille has been cooking up a storm overseas lately. It has taken France by force, and now Germany.
The animated movie about a Parisian rat with a discerning palette cooked up an estimated $12.2 million on 700 screens to open No. 1 in Germany.
says this Hollywood Reporter article.
The film also bowed at No. 1 in Austria with an estimated $1.6 million from 125 dates and came out on top in German-speaking Switzerland with an estimated $905,000 from 125 screens. An opening in Denmark tickled another $865,000 from 50 screens.
Ratatouille now has cooked up $427,891,119 worldwide according to Box Office Mojo, with $224,477,000 making up the international box office numbers.
According to the article from the Hollywood Reporter, it is the 14th-biggest movie launched internationally by Disney and its 15th-biggest release of all time. And BOM lets us know that it is sitting at 8th position, box office wise, of all the films released in 2007.
Overall, a bloomin’ good effort from Ratatouille, and as they say, slow and steady wins the race.
Thanks Emil.

It makes one wonder why they released it it the middle of the summer crowd here in the US.
