At last! The first teaser for Pixar’s other 2015 film, The Good Dinosaur, premiered today on Yahoo! Movies.
The film, which answers the age old question: ‘What if dinosaurs had never gone extinct?’ follows the journey of a young apatosaurus named Arlo (voiced by Lucas Neff), who befriends a human boy that he names Spot. It’s the story of a boy and his dog, with the roles reversed. Watch the teaser below.
This is exactly the perfect teaser. It’s still shrouded in mystery, and the music is sweeping, causing chills to race up your arms. What it does it build up enough anticipation and intrigue. Even though Inside Out will be released this month, The Good Dinosaur is still getting enough attention and buzz. The official teaser poster is also somewhat minimalist, matching the teaser’s simple tone.
Director Pete Sohn discussed the film in a phone interview, which you can read on the Yahoo site. On nature’s antagonistic role, he had this to say:
“We’ve been trying to find physical obstacles and and emotional obstacles for our main character, and nature can represent both,” he said. “In a lot of the research that we’ve done, going out into the Northwest and out into the wilderness, I cannot tell you how beautiful and scary it can be, and how quickly nature can just turn on you. And we’re trying to finding the truth in that in terms of Arlo’s growth.”
We’ll be able to explore along with Arlo on November 25th!
