In what is probably the most obvious piece of news today, InTheNews.co.uk is reporting on Tom Hanks’ appearance on the Jonathon Ross show on Friday night, in which Hank’s says on the topic of Toy Story 3, the producers are "preparing the third one right now".
Toy Story 3 'being prepared'.
Thank you Tom for that insightful piece of news. Toy Story 3 is being directed by Lee Unkrich (Co-Director of Toy Story 2), and is scheduled to be released in 2009* with the full support of Hanks and co-star, Tim Allen.
*This is the date that the article has reported, and although this was the year that TS3 was originally slated for, it was later pushed back to 2010.

Wich would mean that “Up” is comming 2010, or Pixar will release two movies in 2009 !?
I completely missed that. Thanks Guido. I’ll make a note of this possible error in the post and contact the article author.
Hooray! The story must be locked in, and they are moving onto the animation. 🙂
How do you deduce that Rachel?
Tom may have recorded some dialogue, but I doubt that. Most likely he is just in discussions with Pixar at the moment as to what’s going on.
“Toy Story 3” is scheduled for summer 2010.
“Up” is Pixar’s 2009 release… not it’s 2010 release. “Up” will be out with Disney’s “The Princess and the Frog”, while “Toy Story 3” will be out with DIsney’s “Rapunzel”…
Hope that clears it up.

bawpcwpn – I just guessed they were moving onto the animation because they seemed to have been in the story stage for two years, now. Not to mention I’m pretty sure that John Lasseter figured out the ending of the movie years ago, so all they had to was figure out the beginning and middle.
But that’s just my theory. =D
Animation hasn’t been started yet because that would mean the recording stage is complete or atleast fairly completed.
Since Tom didn’t say anything more, I doubt that animation has started.
Sorry Rach. 😛
