Animated News’ James has discovered a character from Up in the commentary on the Blu-Ray edition of Ratatouille.
In the "Wall Rat" scene where Remy is scurrying through the walls of a building he is chased by a dog, who is only seen through a silhouette. It is this dog (pictured) that is from Up says Ratatouille director Brad Bird.
I wonder what from WALL•E makes an appearance in Toy Story 3. It’s probably Rex as some have reported to have seen in the film.
Thanks Felix.

Yes i have seen rex in Wall-e. Thats some intersting stuff ya got there bawpcwpn.[ as always]
Blu-Ray Ratatouille has commentary?!!
Same with the Cars Blu-Ray. That’s the reason commentary was left out of DVDs for Pixar films, so that people move into the future!! It’s very unfortunate for now, I know, but eventually, it’ll all be alright. Just give it a few years and you and everyone you know will ahve a BR player.
It’s not even on the boxart. That’s garbage.
What a cute doggy. I expected the dog to be bit more agressive-looking, judging by the shadow in Ratatouille but I’m happy with the design.
OLD news.
Yes… old news…
The commentary on the Blu-ray discs is called “Cine-Explore”. During the commentary various special features will play at points where the director makes reference to some part of the development process. And if the commentator makes reference to a particular image or hidden object in the scene, that image will be displayed in a box somewhere on the screen, with the movie in the background. It’s much cooler than normal commentary and it gives you a much closer experience to the behind the scenes of the movies.
It may be old news but as far as I am aware, and James from AN&V is aware, it has gone unreported.
Also in Rataouille is the cockroach from Wall E. When Linguini tries to force his bike into his apartment the cockroach falls off the wall. Its there you just have to look.
Thomas, I think you’ve misused italics on ‘Up’ in the first sentence/paragraph or whatever. I’m sorry I keep pointing these types of things out to you, I’m just trying to keep the articles as accurate as possible, spelling/grammer/punctuation wise.
Anyway, the dog looks like such a great character, I love the design on him. And, regarding the commentary only being on Blu-Ray releases, Disney has got to realize that most people can’t afford a Blu-Ray player at this moment in time, and to put those extras back onto the regualar format. To all us hard-core fans, it’s basically a slap in the face.
Wasn’t it in “Our friend the rat” ???
