The people have spoken: Up is 2010’s Favorite Family Movie!
That is according to the results of yesterday’s People’s Choice Awards. I’d rather call the win "Best Movie That Happens to be Appropriate for Families" but the recognition itself is all that really matters.
Pixar’s latest PCA win is significant because it shows that general audiences consistently love the studio as much as critics and film elite do. Not that box office doesn’t already prove that but this is the rare awards show opportunity that allows for public voting. After all, Pixar’s 10th was up against other very popular family fare like Hannah Montana: The Movie, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Night at the Museum 2 and Where the Wild Things Are!
That said, I know we’re all excited to see the results of the Oscars, voted on by filmmakers themselves. Also, make sure to check out the rest of the winners of the 2010 People’s Choice Awards.
Congratulations to Pete Docter and the rest of the Up production team on this win — all thanks to the people’s vote, of course!
