Upcoming Pixar Reviews Pixarpedia!

News Pixar

If you’ve ever wanted a complete collection of Pixar knowledge, from A113 and the Pizza Planet truck to miniscule details about each film and short, then Pixarpedia: A Complete Guide to the World of Pixar… and Beyond! is the book for you!

It’s a pretty definitive guide to everything Pixar. DK Publishing’s typical layouts profile the studio, its people, every single film and short (up until Up/Partly Cloudy), and character profiles (from the stars to obscure characters.) The 350+ page oversized hardcover even includes a foreword from Andrew Stanton and is so up-to-date that it references Toy Story 3 and Cars 2!

The book is divided into 2 main sections although it deviates here and there. "The Movies…" profiles everything from Toy Story to Up with tidbits on the shorts. It’s cool how there’s full spreads with maps of key locations, main characters and even fast facts on the production.  The next section, "…and Beyond!" is about the inner workings of Pixar. This includes inside jokes and themes found in the company’s films among other interesting notes. It’s almost like a very dedicated fan on Pixar Planet wrote this encyclopedia, and I mean that in the best way possible! Pixarpedia really showcases the majesty of the Lamp in a way that’s never been seen before. It does have some minor factual errors but the handsome hardcover with glossy pages and vivid spreads makes up for it.

The book is set at a hefty MSRP of $40.00 although you can get it for much less at Amazon. It is undoubtedly worth the price and will keep you reading the details for a long, long time.
