A lot of us love the antics of Calvin and his friendly and playful, although stuffed, tiger, Hobbes, written and illustrated by Bill Watterson. The strip ran for 10 years from Nov 18,1985 to Dec 31, 1995 and over that period we saw Calvin go on adventures in his mind with Hobbes as well as murder a few snowmen. But enough of this history lesson.
Cole Drumb from Film.com has created a wishlist of 3 films
he would like to see, and who he wants directing them. Among this list, he’d like to see a Calvin and Hobbes film, and who does he want to direct? Brad Bird. "If not done properly this film could cause riots in the streets and destabilize small countries." says Drumb, "The comic strip is as perfect as one of his movies and should not be trusted to anyone below Bird’s caliber. Brad Bird is the only writer/director with the chops to tackle this delicate, heart-warming and hilarious strip."
You can read Drumb’s full reasoning behind this decision here, but what do you think? Would you like to see Pixar make Calvin and Hobbes into a feature length film, and would you like Brad Bird to direct, or would you prefer someone else?

No, this is boring!!I Hate this cartoon and Brad Bird want direct this. Amazing!!!
That would be a good combination, i think.
I think it would perfectly fit Bird, if he’s not already planning a ‘the incredibles 2’ or something
I find a lot of calvin and hobbes jokes having some of the dry Simpsons humor; but also a deeply toughing heart
definitely Brad Bird
here’s my calvin and hobbes short i recently made for school. don’t find it film quality though =)

Brad Bird is always good at anything. He can direct my movies any time!
I’d trust Brad Bird with anything — the only thing I can’t at this point fathom is how Calvin & Hobbes (which is marvelous, of course, and one of my fave strips ever) strips could be turned into a longer movie script.
Ahead of Calvin & Hobbes on MY wishlist is definitely Watership Down, though. I know the animated film based on the novel is considered a classic, but my opinion is that to anyone who’s actually read the novel first that flick is no good. After all these years I’m still hoping to one day see a better movie adaptation of WD, and what studio better to tackle the task than Pixar? Who knows — it could be a perfect segue into even more mature stories for them. Bada$$ bunnies… Mythical animal heroes… Action and emotion…
“Watership Down: A Pixar Animated Feature” …sounds excellent to me.

Calvin and Hobbes is the most ingenius strip of all time! I even named my horse Hobbes. Brad Bird is also one of my favorite directors; his movies are magic.
As much as I’d LOVE to see a Calvin and Hobbes movie, I think that any true Calvin and Hobbes fan should respect Bill Watterson’s wish that Calvin and Hobbes remain a comic strip. He’s already fought the liscensing fight (and won) – please don’t make him fight it again. I think the strip’s overall feel would disappear if voices were given to Calvin and Hobbes.
