The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards are finally upon us!
I’m sure it’ll be a great night for Pixar. The studio has been nominated twice tonight (1/17) for Up in the categories of Best Animated Feature and Best Original Score!
Stick around and keep watching this post for updates on eveything Pixar at the Globes. The studio’s nominations are listed below. And… results are in. Click for press conf.:
Winner: :: Best Animated Feature — Up ::
Pete Docter thanked Disney, Pixar, Jonas Rivera, Bob Peterson, Ed Catmull, John Lasseter, family and more!
Winner: :: Best Original Score: Motion Picture — Up — Michael Giacchino ::
Michael Giacchino calls Pixar his family!
The Golden Globe Awards are presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Watch the ceremony tonight at 8/7c PM live on NBC. See the rest of the winners, including Best Picture Comedy or Musical/Drama, over here.
Pre-awards thoughts: I’m vey excited to see how Up will fare in the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s domain. This year Pixar faces some tough competition; Coraline, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and The Princess and the Frog are all in the running. But as history has shown, HFPA has only awarded Best Animated to Pixar. Also, Mr Giacchino really deserves to be recognized again for his impecable taste in music!
Post-awards thoughts: Today’s show was pleasant! Mostly because Up won both awards it was nominated for, but also because the ceremony was overall funny and delightful. Up’s Best Animated win continues Pixar’s perfect streak at the Globes and Michael Giacchino’s win is a perfect compliment to his win two days ago at the CCMAs! I loved both speeches. Highlights include Pete Docter’s Ellie Badge pin and Michael Giacchino calling Pixar his family.
Discuss your thoughts on the wins, nominations and moments from tonight’s show in the comments section. Consider the next stop: Oscar gold!
Congratulations to Pete Docter, Bob Peterson, Jonas Rivera, Michael Giacchino and the entire Up team at Disney/Pixar on these momentous wins!

YES! YES! YES! BEST SCORE! AGAIN! YEAAAH!!!!
Oh wow. Congrats, Michael Giacchino!!!
Neato. But mind you, the Golden Globes, more than any other award, have the LEAST bearing on the Academy Awards. Golden Globes are also voted on by just a handful of foreign press members. The Academy Awards are voted on by at least a thousand people, most of whom work in live action. And they’re leaning towards Mr. Fox. But I hope UP wins.
UP will get an Oscar nomination for Best Picture. On the final ballots, voters will consider that a “win” in itself for UP and will turn around and throw the “little bone” (Animated Oscar) to another animated venture, be it Fox, Frog, or Coraline.
That would be awful, as 10 best picture nominations dilute the honor. They will go back to 5 next year. But UP should win. Mr. Fox was just DULL.
Incredibly monumental. Congrats to both of them. 🙂
Fantastic Mr. Fox is certainly a formidable foe in the Oscar field, but I’m not too worried about the competition, despite it being especially strong this year. —Leirin
Its Hard To Choose Coraline Or Up,
Both Were Fantastic But Overall UP Won.
I Think That Coaraline Would Win With It’s AMAZING ANAMATION And Story Line
But UP Took Over And Won, It Might Be The Story Line,Plot And The Funny Sayings And Voices In The Movie
