News Round-Ups Toy Story 3 UP

Does the date in this post’s title seem a little familiar? If you were wondering, that means we’re exactly 4 months away from Toy Story 3!

Anyway, below are some assorted stories from the world of Pixar to keep you busy until then.

Lasseter Comments on Totoro’s TS3 Cameo: If you’ve seen the latest Toy Story 3 trailer, chances are you’ve caught quite a few inside jokes. One reference that got the ‘net buzzing was the inclusion of Totoro from Miyazaki’s My Neighbor Totoro. MTV asked Pixar CCO John Lasseter about the TS3 cameo of this well-known character from Japan: "…we thought it was a very appropriate homage to let Studio Ghibli know how much they mean to us.” Spoken like a true friend!

Great List, Best Supporting Pixar Characters: I agree with almost 100% of this list. That’s a rarity when it comes to Pixar, after all I’m very opinionated on the subject. That’s why you absolutely have to check out Total Film’s 12 Best Supporting Pixar Characters and let me know what you think. Some of my all-time favorites are included; Mater, Crush, Bullseye and Ego all have their own profiles. I won’t spoil the list but that’s just a taste, so make sure to check it out for yourself!

Jack-Jack, Best Child Hero: Speaking of supporting characters, here’s one of my favorites which you won’t find on the list mentioned above: The Incredibles’ Jack-Jack. He’s just a baby but he already has his own short as well as the distinction of being one of Techland’s Best Child Heroes of All-Time! The Parr’s super-tot joins the ranks of John Connor (Terminator), Harry Potter, the Pevensies (Narnia) and more heroic kids. Check out the list here.

"Up" in the Air Poster Mash-Up: Why is Up in the Air being featured on Upcoming Pixar? Take a look again. Who do you see in the middle of this poster? Exactly, it’s Up’s septuagenarian star and his flying house worked into the poster for Jason Reitman’s latest film. Not only do both movies prominently feature air travel in one form or another and have titles with the word "up" but they are also both Best Picture Oscar contenders! I’ve got to say, this mash-up by artist "torgar" was very well done! See more at Slash Film.

Enjoy!
