More Art Revealed for Rumored Boy + Dinosaur Pixar Production

News Short Film

It was a truly exciting day late last August when Bryko614, an avid and eagle eyed Pixar Planet member, noticed something interesting in a brief moment on the Up B-Roll.

An image of what I called "a boy and his dinosaur" can be seen behind Pixar sculptor Greg Dykstra while he displays a model of young Carl in the now legendary clip. After we posted the image on the blog, it attracted quite a bit of attention and speculation exploded.

Many questions have been posed: Is the image from an upcoming Pixar feature film? Considering the studio’s schedule, probably not. How about a short film? Likely. Then, could it be a personal project or a Pixar production? Not sure. But this latest image, sent anonymously to our friends over at Pixar Talk, seems to suggest it’s a Disney/Pixar film.

In the picture, you’ll see Up production designer and Pixar vet Ricky Nierva alongside another Pixarian (who’s face has been unfortunately cut off) in Dykstra’s studio. This time, we can see the wall and its contents in more detail. The boy and the dinosaur are now joined by prehistoric alligators, pterodactyls and giant mosquitoes. I’m extremely excited to see what this is all about!

But the big question remains: Will this be the short attached to Toy Story 3? From what I’ve heard, it’s really hard to tell. Or maybe this will replace Newt…?

What do you think?
