Last night the Academy held their Scientific and Technical Awards where Pixar co-founder and president, Dr. Ed Catmull accepted the Gordon E. Sawyer Award.
Catmull got a standing ovation when he recieved the Oscar that honors those who have brought significant technical achievement to the industry.
He had this to say:
"In each of the communities that I’ve been in, we know that when we make the movies look good, we make each other look good, it’s really been a great adventure."
Jessica Biel hosted and praised WALL•E which she believes should be up for best picture. This is what she said about the studios’ movies:
"They are so emotional, and most of the Pixar films, I usually laugh, cry, am frightened. Those types of movies could and should — if they’re good enough — win an Oscar. Why not?"
Everyone at Pixar Planet would like to congratulate Dr. Ed Catmull on his immense achievements. Share your congratulations below.
Clips of the Sci-Tech Awards will be shown during the main Academy Awards telecast on February 22nd at 8PM (EST).
