John Lasseter Mega-Feature: CCO Talks Toys, Female Leads and Learning from Failures

News

John Lasseter has been the subject of quite a few news worthy stories in the last couple of days. I will attempt to collect those items in this post:

As part of a new promotion for the brand new Toy Story Collection toy line, Disney Living is posting brand new video blogs starring John Lasseter. In the first of the series, embedded below, Mr. Lasseter introduces himself and the toys. Each week two vlogs will premiere. In this edition of "John Lasseter Talks Toys" he urges fans to buy two of each toy, one for the product, the other for the movie-accurate packaging. Good stuff:

The John Lasseter videos don’t stop there… Another new video blog over at Disney/Pixar’s DailyMotion channel has premiered! It features the Pixar Chief Creative Officer talking about the studio’s first female lead, Merida, from The Bear and the Bow.

But there’s even more Lasseter coverage! Variety is running an article on how Pixar often times experiences huge failure at the beginning of a project but then learns from those mistakes to better their productions. The lenghty article is basically a profile on the head honcho himself, his philosophies for success and his colleagues. Speaking of profiles, Variety also has bios on the Golden Lion Recipients including Lasseter, Bird, Stanton, Docter and Unkrich.

Until next time…
