Apparently this flew way under my radar!

Yes, it’s MovieFone’s exclusive clip from Dug’s Special Mission, of all things! Directed by Ronnie del Carmen, this brand new movie based short film follows "the good-hearted dog, Dug [as] he is sent on a series of quests by his mean canine bosses." Of course, those plans always seem to backfire!

This one minute clip shows one of the Alpha Pack’s failed attempts to rid themselves of Dug. I won’t spoil the antics; you’ll just have to see it for yourself! Anyways, from the sample it seems that Bob Peterson (Dug/Alpha), Delroy Lindo (Beta) and Jerome Ranft (Gamma) are back for this mini-prequel to the dog’s story in Up! It’s not yet clear if we’ll see Muntz or any of the other cast return. What is clear is that the short got a great reaction from Ottawa Film Festival audience members yesterday!

Follow "Dug’s Special Mission" exclusively on the Up Blu-ray/DVD releases in stores November 10th! The short is reportedly around 5 minutes long.

The signature "talking dog" humor is all there, so what did you think of this clip?

    Seems non-canon. Beta and Gamma remark that Alpha’s high pitched voice is unusual AFTER Dug seems to have embarked on his mission in the “I smell chocolate” scene.

    Also, the “Squirrel!” thing might be a liiittle excessive.

    Well… They do seem to repeat what’s on their mind whenever the thoughts pop in. No filter I guess. Alpha may have had to contend with their remarks about his voice many times more than once…
