Real Life Inspiration for Carl Fredricksen's House?

News UP

In quite a few interviews Pete Docter was asked if Carl’s house was inspired by any house in particular. He said yes, but decided not to elaborate.

Now San Francisco Chronicle’s SF Gate thinks they’ve found the home in Berkeley, California! Ironically, the house (pictured and edited) is elevated into the air by a wooden structure with its undercarriage exposed, but the similarities don’t end there. The architecture is very similar to that of Pixar’s latest star’s home; picket fences, wooden front porch and looks rather old. You can really feel the vibe of Carl’s house with this Sixth Street (where Docter hinted at it’s located) property.

SlashFilm also tried their shot at finding the elusive spot, here’s their first idea. I should note that the movie blog updated and is now leaning on SFC’s guess, but the Chronicle is suggesting that /Film could be right… I also want to make sure that you guys understand that these houses are private property and if you’re in the area I would advise you not to look up their address and pester whoever lives there.

Anyhow, what do you think: inspiration or just a coincidence? Make yourself heard in the comments section!
