Toy Story 3D Double Feature in the Media Spotlight

News Toy Story Toy Story 2

Major news outlets are running great articles on the Toy Story and Toy Story 2 in 3D Double Feature and I’d like to share a few. This is our (Woody’s) round-up of the best coverage online:

It’s commonly known that most people in their right mind have a place for Woody, Buzz and the gang in their hearts. Turns out AICN’s Capone had more space in there than he thought! "I didn’t think it was humanly possible for me to love these movies any more than I already did, but that’s exactly what I feel after seeing them this go ‘round."

So how did Pixar get their already beloved series to be even more exciting and powerful? Well that was in the hands of 3D supervisor Bob Whitehill. The New York Times ran a great piece chronicling the conversion from flat to 3D with quotes from director John Lasseter and Bob Whitehill. The article even includes an interactive slideshow narrated by John Lasseter! Turns out the data took 4 months to be re-usable and 6 months per film to convert into 3D!

USA Today also joined in the celebration with their own article on the double feature. They even allow you to vote on your favorite scene from the films. The main article asks if kids would be able to sit for 3 hours and a half, I’m happy to say that at my screenings, they definitely could! This mom/critic on MSN agrees. Variety‘s article predicts that if the Toy Story 3D Double Feature does well (more on that soon), we could see more Pixar re-releases like Cars and The Incredibles soon. I would unquestionably be up for this!

One of the special parts of the Toy Story series is the superbly casted voice actors. Coming Soon got to interview the comedy geniuses Estelle Harris (Mrs. Potato Head) and Wallace Shawn (Rex) about their experience throughout the series. The chat with the two continues over at MTV where the discussion is more Toy Story 3 centric.

Remember, even though the two classics have been re-rendered and converted into 3D, everything you love: the humor, the drama and the action in each scene, has been left intact. Let’s just say the reviews coming in are nothing short of amazing and if I posted them all here, this post would never end! Make a note that Toy Story and Toy Story 2 are still 100% approved for over at Rotten Tomatoes.

Bottom line: The media wants you to know that if you haven’t seen Toy Story and Toy Story 2 in 3D… see it!
