The first piece of concept art for Pixar’s next feature film Turning Red, written and directed by Domee Shi (director of Bao), has been revealed at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. Take a look below!
Turning Red is hoping to have its theatrical release on March 11 2022. It centres around a young girl who struggles with turning into a giant red panda whenever she gets too excited. A coming-of-age movie with an unusual twist! It’s fun to see just how big the red panda transformation seems to be based on this concept art.
If it’s anything like Domee Shi’s directorial debut on Bao, Turning Red is set to be a movie full of laughs, surprises, and unexpected realness. We can’t wait to see how she masterfully intermingles the absurd and the heartfelt just like we experienced back in 2018.
