Up Weekday Box Office (6/22/09-6/25/09) [UPDATE X3]

Box Office News UP

We could just say Up is doing amazingly well and leave it at that but I’ll write an entire post highlighting Pixar’s latest success anyways! Don’t worry — I insist.

If analysts still think the cumulative $226,268,932 as of Sunday is not enough, they’re just selfish. Too bad they passed up on the opportunity to put out action figures, a proper soundtrack and other interesting merchandise. May I remind you, those figures are already surpassing WALL•E and Ratatouille after 25 days! At this point the sky’s the limit for Up and I’m very excited to see where it goes!

Up is now #10 out of all animated movies and #9 of all CGI movies! Easily a blockbuster like each of Pixar’s previous gems. Let’s see how the week has played out so far:

Monday: $2,790,206
Tuesday: $2,911,328
Wednesday: $2,690,330
Thursday: $2,512,021

Cumulative: $237,172,817

Notes and Predictions: Wednesday is the big day to see how this year’s "event" affects Up. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen could break into its market, stay tuned to find out if the drop was too drastic. Coming up next week is also the Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. Anyhow, I’m predicting Up will end this Thursday at just about $235 million. It’s hard to say what the weekend will bring considering the big new releases.

International: Box Office Mojo is now counting international numbers for Up. In South & Central America, Russia and some of Asia, Pete Docter’s latest has earned $21,049,744. It hasn’t opened in any major territories yet, that would be October in the UK, September in Australia and later on around Europe and finally in Japan in December. Right now Russia and Mexico are leading the pack.

Don’t forget, there are updates right here each day so check back to stay in the loop!
