Very engaging screenplay!
Why is he called ‘WALLY’ in the screenplay…?
This is almost the happiest day of my life! (Next Teusday will be the happiest day of my life) I have been waiting for this for so long!
Wally was probably his name before WALL-E. Andrew still gave him the name “Waste Allocation Load Lifter – Earth-Class” and then he probably changed it from a Y to an E afterwards to make it fit.
He may be called Wally, just because that’s his name, regardless of how it’s actually spelled. Also, it may have originally been for pronunciation, since at the beginning of the script, they refer to him as WAL-E, (Waste Allocation Loader — Earth Class. They probably changed this to Load Lifter later, so that the name of the movie would be easier to read correctly.
