The estimates are in and they are saying that WALL•E has passed the $200 million mark domestically (US/Canada). The estimate says, $200,780,000 which brings the worldwide total to an estimated $203,939,079.
Disney’s "Wall-E," following a similar go-slow release, launched impressively in first place in France with $7.2 million to pull its foreign total to $95 million while still early in its run. The Pixar toon expands next weekend to South Korea and Spain.
says the site. Thanks Lynne.
Hi, Just curious. At what week did “Alvin and the Chimpmunks” pass the $200 million mark? It’s been a pretty good indication of how well a “family film” will finish after the dust has settled. It looks like “Panda” has unfortunately dusted everybody. What’s happening to the Pixar market place…? Maybe we need to kiss the good ‘ol days of being the “top dogs” as far as box office…especially with the newer original “adult” fare. Blasted kids! Cheers, Justin
It’s holding up better than Ratatouille and Cars were at the same point box office wise. And considering the other family films in the market and other films that have been released recently that is an accomplishment. Also the dismal box office of Space Chimps showcases that people still appreciate some level of quality.
It’s holding up better than Ratatouille, not Cars. Cars was a good $10 million (at least) better than WALL-E at this point.
Respectfully, the problem with the “Space Chimps” analogy, is that its marketing budget was maybe five percent of what most Disney/Pixar films are. They just tossed the film out to see if anyone would show up…can you imagine if they had an extra eighty or ninety mil to throw around for promotion…?
Bad film is just bad film.
Space Chimps box office is bad because its script and animation is bad, not because they don’t have money to promote it. If they had extra 80 or 90 for marketing then it would have been bigger the bomb than it already is.
Look at Bee Movie and all the Jerry Seinfeld promotion, all is flushed in to the deep ocean. Because the movie was bad, not because they didn’t have money.
You made my point…“Bee Movie” had a good marketing budget and in spite of the fact it was a poor film, it made $127 million domestically. “Chimps” will be lucky to crack $30 mil. That’s a HUGE difference. Justin
by the way….a new picture of UP

“WALL•E brought in a grand total of $204,078,076 domestically. That’s a whole $4 million more than the estimate.”
No…that estimate was for Friday only. WALL•E’s weekend estimate brought the total to $204.2 million.
The estimate was that it was going to make 4.2 million over the weekend and it made (I think) 4.7 million, so it did exceed it;s expectation but not by much. I think Thomas menat since the last time he checked the estimates. Still, it’s doing better than KFP and we’re finally seeing legs. GO WALL-E.
P.S. It should be passing the 300 million mark any day soon, since worldwide it has 95 mil and domestically it has about 205 mil!!
Wall-E just did not work for me and my dad (I know im prob only one of the few that felt this way about it) my uncle took me my dad to see Wall-E back in mid July 2008, an since my Uncle can persuade my Dad to force me to go anywhere and I do mean anywhere (you dont know my uncle he can and he will haa) I had to go,even though I hate going to the theaters for any movie, since my fallout with theathers in 2002 dont ask,it’s A long sad unlove story heee.
Well to make A long story short,I an my dad did not like Wall-E but my Uncle did,my dad wishes now he never gave in to my uncle,an I wish I put up a fight with my uncle on not going to see it.
{no offence and attack meant to Wall-E fans} all in all I wish it all success. I just cant go for the CGI films right now, that is where more of me not liking Wall-E lies, more than anything else, though there was more reason I did not care for Wall-E but that is going to be kept to myself and between me and my Dad.
nice to see it passed 200 M. much more inprovement over Rats Amount, but I still liked rat more reguardless of B.O. an that was when I love CGI films, this year is when I gave
them up for now atleast,i’ll return to them someday, only if it goes more like traditional animation with the CGI.

I was very excited when Ratatouille was announced and not a bit disappointed. I wouldn’t be bored to watch it once a month. Listening to “Le Festin”, wow, I wanna dance in the streets 🙂
WALL-E is a different story. Excellent CGI but didn’t completely resonate with me (and I’m into recycling stuff). I’ll still buy the DVD.
I want the “Panda” movie on DVD too 🙂
Cheers,
