Woody's News Round-Up (6/2/09)

News Round-Ups

What we missed, misplaced or just learned about during this eventful Up premiere week:

Toy Story 3 First Look: Yes, this "first look" image (click to view larger) from Toy Story 3 (June 18th, 2010) is from the teaser but it’s been specially released for promotional purposes in high resolution so I thought I’d share it with you guys. We’ll be looking forward to an image from the actual movie sometime later this year! Don’t forget to check back on the brand new Toy Story website for more updates in the future!

WALL•E at the Tonys: Jim Hill Media is reporting that the Living Character Initiative version of WALL•E will be attending theatres’ biggest night, the Tony Awards! WALL•E will be introducing the tribute to "Hello, Dolly!" composer Jerry Herman. Learn more about the 2009 Tonys here.

AWN Goes Up: Animation World Network has two interesting features on the development of Pixar’s critically acclaimed hit, Up! The first focuses on "simplexity" including quotes from the Up team. The second article is an interview with Bill Desowitz and Josh Hollander, the 3D team on Up!

Audience Reactions: Reelz Channel‘s series First Fans went Up this weekend to see what viewers thought of Pixar’s latest. We already knew that Up is critically acclaimed, but it’s refreshing to know that people like me and you loved it too! Check out the reactions here, they’re fantastic! Also on Reelz Channel, a great interview with Pete Docter!

Tourism Up?: Yahoo News! sat down with Pete Docter to talk about the locations in Up. As you know, the film is primarily set in the Amazon’s tepui tabletop mountains famous for the abstract rock formations. Yahoo! wonders: Was it Docter’s first choice for the setting? How was the visit? And best of all: Do you think this will boost tourism in the area? Read the full story here.

(Thanks so much to everyone who sent these in!)
