April Fools: A Bug’s Life 2 in 2013?

We have just received word from a very reliable source regarding the future of A Bug’s Life. Our source informs us that Pixar is intending to proceed with a sequel to A Bug’s Life, with a projected release date of Winter 2013.

The film is currently in early pre-production with Darla K. Anderson attached to direct. Darla is currently producing Toy Story 3, due for release next year which would give her the typical 3 years to make a sequel at Pixar. It seems she wouldn’t be the first producer to direct at Pixar either, after Brad Lewis was announced as director of Cars 2 last year. Some of you may recall that Darla has been with Pixar since Toy Story, also serving as producer on A Bug’s Life.
Although the storyline is still in the works, our source tells us it has to do with Ant Island being washed away in a severe flood, and they have to migrate and rebuild in a new location.

An official announcement from Disney•Pixar is expected to be made with the release of A Bug’s Life on Blu-Ray on May 19.

What do you think about this news? Do sequels bode well for Pixar’s future? How does another producer directing sit in your books? Leave a comment below and let us know.

Note: If you didn’t notice, this was just an April Fool’s joke!

My sources tell me that it will also be the first movie in which John Ratzenberger will not be in the voice case due to a contract he recently signed with Dreamworks Animation.

  2. LOL at Anonymous. But seriously, let’s just trust the process and have faith that whatever Pixar does, it will be great, even if they are recycling characters that we all know and love.

I hear the sequel will also contain a new bug species, Aprilous Fooliose.

My sources tell me that Pixar is skipping A Bug’s Life 2 and going directly to A Bug’s Life 3 instead.

    Suuuuuuurre. I believe this.

I rather think that they’ll make a movie where the bugs go to space and meet Wall-E. That would be great!

  8. Well, I can’t say I’m happy for another sequel. What would A Bug’s Life 2 be about? I’m am just so sick of Pixar’s tom-foolery, with them churning out the sequels, like another Dreamworks or Disney in the early 2000s. The Incredibles needs a sequel WAY more.

  14. bennifer3000 says:

No she wanted to it to be called “You Are A Toy”.
But agreed, she has no creative talent.

  15. Hog-Hug says:

Enough with the Darla hate. I can’t believe people actually believed this. XD

  16. Anonymous says:

I believed it and who wouldn’t….I mean with Cars 2, Toy Story 3 and a possible monsters inc 2, haha. The only doubt was why would they confirm it so early.

  17. Anonymous says:

yeah i never expected a toy story 3 so what’s wrong with a bugs life 2

  18. C-3PO says:

I recognized this right away, considering that it was accidentally uploaded on March 31st, at 11:06 pm Eastern North American time, then disappeared, and was re-uploaded at midnight on April 1st…

Besides, I was waiting to see what Upcoming Pixar would do for April Fools Day. There seems to be something every year…

“yeah i never expected a toy story 3 so what’s wrong with a bugs life 2”

Can you really see them doing another one when one of thier lead character’s voice actor died? I think out of respect for Joe Ranft they wouldn’t do it. I know Jim Varney died as well and Toy Story goes on, but this is different, Joe Ranft was more than just a voice actor, he was part of the brain trust.
