Woody's News Round-Up (12/03/09)

News Round-Ups Soundtrack

Welcome to a MEGASIZE edition of Woody’s News Round-Up featuring one-day offers and Toy Story related announcements! Check out the main attractions:

Complimentary Up Soundtrack Now Defunct: Originally this complete blog post was titled "Free Up Soundtrack Download Available For One Day Only." The promotion, located here, expired a few hours after the initial post. Due to the unusually large amount of news coming in today, I’ve decided to make this a round-up, read on for some great content. Remember, you can always purchase Michael Giacchino’s magnificent, Grammy nominated album on Amazon!

Toy Story: The Musical Docking at DCA: Although Toy Story wasn’t meant to be a musical, the team at Disney Imagineering reportedly did a phenomenal job adapting the groundbreaking film for the stage. They did such a great job that Toy Story: The Musical is being ported (literally docked from Disney Cruise Lines) over to Disney’s California Adventure in Anaheim starting early in 2011! The new addition to Disneyland’s sister park is said to replace Aladdin — A Musical Spectacular at the park’s Hyperion Theater.

Pixar Steelbooks at Best Buy for Very Limited Time: Remember the promotion that Canada’s Future Shop held last month offering Disney and Pixar steelbooks? Rumors have been floating around that US shoppers will be able to get a hold of them on December 8th for one day only! Future Shop’s parallel in the States, Best Buy, will have them in stock on that date for $29.99, confirmed by this scan of the store’s recent flyer. From Pixar you’ll be able to find A Bug’s Life, Monsters, Inc., Cars, Ratatouille, WALL•E and Up steelbooks!

Toy Story Blu-ray Hints: Pixar Talk is reporting that Up’s BD-Live downloads include a preview of sorts for the upcoming release of Toy Story and Toy Story 2 on Blu-ray. No release dates have been announced (rumors point to late Spring/early Summer) but the teaser should be viewable to all who own BD-Live capable Blu-ray players. I unfortunately don’t have that function on mine, so if anyone can confirm this and give details, be sure to comment below.

Enjoy the bite-sized Pixar tidbits before they’re all gone!
