As you know, Pixar is a prevalent name in the movie industry, not only when it comes to animation.
So, it’s not a huge surprise, but surely a huge honor, that two of the studio’s films were featured in the Internet Movie Database’s Power of Film: Top Rated Films of the New Millennium!
WALL•E was on the list at number 8 because "…popular films [can] be art…" This shouldn’t be a shock considering all the awards which the loveable little robot garnered and the huge fan base it has. Then, we have a movie from this year: Up! The adventure about a cranky old man with a dream and his quirky companions is on the list at number 5. These two are among other greats such as The Dark Knight, The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Spirited Away in a group of 15 movies released in the 21st century. You can see the full list here.
It just goes to show that film fans understand animation is not a genre and can compete with live-action.
