Pixar have just revealed a new movie they’re working on for 2023: Elemental.
Elemental is set to release on June 16 2023, almost exactly a year after Lightyear‘s June 17 2022 release date. It is directed by Peter Sohn (director of The Good Dinosaur, Partly Cloudy; voice of Squishy, Emile, Sox) and produced by Denise Ream (Cars 2, The Good Dinosaur). Check out our first look at its concept art below!
Elemental will take place in a world where the four elements (fire, water, air and land) live together. Protagonists Ember, ‘a fiery young woman’, and Wade, ‘a go-with-the-flow guy’, are an unlikely pair that discover they may have more in common than first thought.
If you look in the background of the concept art, you can see the ‘air’ and ‘land’ city residents. And look at Ember and Wade’s fiery/watery footsteps!
It’s easy to make immediate comparisons whenever a Pixar movie is first revealed. But let’s hold off until we learn more about Pixar’s next adventure! Every Pixar movie ends up being its own unique thing, and we can’t wait to see what direction this new movie takes.

I feel like it’s a kind of trilogy: Inside Out, Soul, Elemental. Can’t wait to see it!
For me « Elemental » is basically a mash-up of « Inside Out » and « Soul » based on the central message of « Zootopia ». Concerning its inclusion in the Pixar theory, I see some possibities (« Lightyear » is out, following its opening text.):
• Before « The Good Dinosaur », or before « Brave ».
• Between « Wall-E » and « Cars ».
• After the end of the « Cars » saga.
What are you thinking about this?
