Rumor: Toy Story 3 on 3D Blu-ray This December? [UPDATE]

Rumors surrounding a 3D Blu-ray release for Toy Story 3 have gained new traction as Amazon.com lists a seemingly inconspicuous product page.

At first glance, it looks like any other listing for Pixar’s 11th. However, you may be convinced otherwise once you examine the ‘Product Details’.

Not only will this mysterious release include 4-discs, but it’s also set for a peculiar date. According to Amazon, you can get your hands on it beginning Sunday, December 19, 2010.

That’s just in time for the holidays, but not on your traditional home video Tuesday. The alleged release is also more than a month apart from the street date (11/2/10) of the standard Blu-ray/DVD.

Now, this doesn’t mean it’s truly anything special, but the interwebs (including some of my favorite Pixar blogs and Blu-ray.com) seem to suggest that it is in fact the 3D Blu-ray version of Toy Story 3. You be the judge!

Update: Although a 3D home video release seems inevitable, this one isn’t it. Amazon has clarified that the 4-Disc Blu-ray set is the Spanish Edition of the standard combo pack. The search continues!

What do you think about 3D at home?

I’m still not falling into this 3D hype. It still feels like the television industry’s need to ‘accessorize.’

I was telling my Dad the other day: ‘If I want 3D, I’ll just go outside.” Plus, you get smell-o-vision for free (whether you like it or not in some cases).
