UP Round-Up (5/9/09)

News Round-Ups UP

This week has been packed with Pixar news, from the announcement of a new Disney/Pixar studio in Vancouver to our A Bug’s Life on Blu-ray review to the first proffesional critics’ review and full cast list of Up! Sometimes we can’t post individual articles for the news in between because, frankly, it’d be overwhelming for both us and the readers.

So welcome again to another installment of UP Round-Up:

LA Times on Up: This Friday was National Press Day at Pixar, one of the reasons why so much news is coming out of Emeryville lately. The LA Times has an extensive article on Up featuring quotes from Pete Docter and the Pixar team who worked on it. You can read it here, the article even contains a new still from Up.

Dug & Alpha Team Plushes: "‘My name is Dug. I have just met you and I love you’‘ and ‘‘Treats. I smell treats. I like treats’‘  are just some of the hilarious quotes you’ll hear when pushing the paw of Dug or one of the Alpha Team dogs, Alpha, Beta and Gamma. The plush versions of the search dogs come in sizes ranging from 8 inches to 14 inches tall. Each of Muntz’s dogs retail for $19.95 besides Jumbo Dug which is priced at $34.99, you can purchase them over at the Disney Store website!

Pete Docter Goes Up… Literaly: The flying armchair stopped by Pixar for press day and Up director Pete Docter took a ride as pictured to the right! Ever wonder what it would look like from UP top? Check out this video on YouTube for a bird’s eye view of Pixar from the chair. We reported earlier that the Up Cluster Balloon Tour would be stopping by many American cities, find out when your stop is coming up (if it hasn’t already passed) here.

More Up Retro Style Posters: It seems there are more one-sheets from the artists behind the other Up retro posters we posted last month! They look gorgeous displayed in the Pixar atrium, which was flooded by press today. Check out larger version of "Natural Wonders in South American Tepui" and "The World’s Greatest Adventurer" at their respective links.
