Pixar Website Adds Cars 2!

Cars 2, Official Website

Posted by Martin • February 6, 2011

Keep an eye on the recently updated Pixar website, now including a page dedicated to Cars 2.

As June 24 draws closer, some hefty updates will be in order. Although the area is relatively bare at the moment, the studio has consistently added an in-depth look inside their latest film and the unique challenges behind its production.

The main page also offers a link to the official Cars 2 website. But even with these minor changes, it still has me wondering: when (if ever) will the Pixar website get a much needed makeover?

The world may never know…

Pixar.com Tears Down the Brick Wall!

Day & Night, Official Website, Toy Story 3

Posted by Martin • June 19, 2010

A couple of key pages on the official Pixar website recently went through a welcome renovation.

If you’re a regular visitor, you’ll notice that the home page now includes a Day & Night icon. As expected, clicking on the image takes you to a portal with information on Teddy Newton’s short, but the site’s biggest change is more general.

The infamous ‘Feature Films’ brick wall has been ‘torn down’ by Pixar’s web designer in favor of a cleaner layout. Also gone are the film canisters representing each Pixar short. Posters are now neatly arranged in all of those portions of the site, as well as ‘The Theater’ section. Dug’s Special Mission has even been added, but it’s not clickable yet.

It’s worth noting that the updated pages previously used Flash interfaces. Ever since Steve Jobs condemned the dated technology, web designers have shifted away from the program to avoid compatibility issues.

I continue to hope for a site overhaul one of these days. For example, the ‘Artist’s Corner’ hasn’t had an update in five years. With that said, I’m happy to see gradual change.

Toy Story 3 Website Updated With Unique Character Animation Loops

Official Website, Online, Toy Story 3

Posted by Martin • February 19, 2010

Toys come alive — out of Andy’s room and into your computer!

Head on over to the official Toy Story 3 website to check out the page’s newest addition; character loops from the TS gang! Even some of the newly revealed toys have their own animation for you to check out! You may remember something similar on the Up site only it lacks sound.

Each clip replaces the still shots found after clicking on a particular character on the home page. They work well to introduce visitors to each toy’s personality which is especially useful with the new additions. As you can imagine, I was excited to see Lotso and Ken (who’s as self obsessed as ever) included, although Peas and Buttercup still don’t have an animation. With all that said, my favorite to watch is definitely Rex!

Also, check out the new Buzz and Woody graphic (linking to the Toy Story 3 site) on Pixar’s website.

What do you think of this addition to the TS3’s site? Which loop is your favorite?

Toy Story Series Website Updated! New Links; Character Poses

Official Website, Online, Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Toy Story 3

Posted by Martin • August 21, 2009

Opening Note: This post is meant for easy browsing but you can go ahead and navigate by yourself if you wish. The official website of the Toy Story series has been updated again!

Now instead of just being a countdown with an eager Little Green Man, it’s a full fledged site dedicated to Toy Story, Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 3 as well as related books and products.

You’ll find the typical links found on movie promotions online. The Toy Story 3 and Toy Story/Toy Story 2 in 3D trailers are in the Videos section alongside select Toy Story Treats minisodes. As you may remember, the TS/TS2 sections were separated from the TS3 section, in this update, it is now blended with the whole of the page! The character scrolling area is now in the Characters section. Each of the protagonists from the first two films have bios and download links, some even have new character poses. In The Movies section, you’ll find the synopsis for each film in the series.

The site also serves as a hub for Toy Story merchandise and miscellanea. Books and Products are separate sections but both are similarly set up to include the new toys and collectibles available based on Toy Story. The upcoming Toy Story Mania! game for the Wii and Toy Story: The Art and Making of the Film book are featured. Only one visible section is unavailable, the Games area.

Just a thought, the idea of the site seems very similar to the updated Cars page, probably because they are both expanding franchises. Expect there to be much, much more coming soon in the next few months!

Brand New RenderMan Site is Now Live

Monsters, Inc., Official Website, Online, Pixar, RenderMan

Posted by Martin • July 31, 2009

It is an event when Pixar’s website is updated, and an even bigger one when a major portion is redesigned!

The RenderMan portal of Pixar.com has just launched with a brand new design. The industry standard in rendering has been the leader for over 20 years and this website celebrates how truly epic that is! Included in the page is information for professionals and curious fans alike.

In the "What’s RenderMan?" section you’ll find information about the product itself such as awards it’s won/movies it’s been used for, specific technical specifications, FAQs and more. As you delve further into the site you’ll notice a selection of RenderMan products and links with information for purchasing titled: "The Tools." There’s also a "News" area featuring press releases, testimonials and the such. Finally you’ll see the "Support" section which is meant for those in the industry who have purchased the software.

There’s lots to look at but remember, much of the facilities on this branch of Pixar.com are meant for professionals only, so I’d advise you to please respect that.

Related: Speaking of websites, Jim Hill Media is reporting that Disney has just registered the domain MONSTERS2.COM, clearly another clue pointing towards the rumored sequel.

Toy Story Website Updated/TS/2 in 3D Trailer Online This Tuesday

Official Website, Online, Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Toy Story 3, Trailer

Posted by Martin • July 24, 2009

The Toy Story website has gone through metamorphosis quite a few times throughout the years.

Now it’s time for yet another change, this time for promoting the Toy Story/Toy Story 2 in 3D Double Feature (TS/TS2 in 3D) that’ll be playing in theatres nationwide in less than 70 days!! The page itself prominently features a countdown for the two week only limited engagement. Below it you’ll see a notice that says a trailer will premiere online this Tuesday, July 28th.

As a nice touch you’ll also find a Little Green Man on the page wearing the three lensed 3D glasses, iconic to the campaign. Wondering where the cool Toy Story 3 preview site has gone? Just click on the Toy Story 3 trailer icon to direct you there. Expect both sites to get a bunch of cool updates as we get closer and closer to TS/TS2 in 3D and of course the highly anticipated brand new installment in the series!

Note: I still have not seen G-Force in theatres so I can’t confirm or deny if the trailer for TS/TS2 in 3D is attached. That said I don’t know if waiting until July 28th is the only option to see the trailer. Comment if you’ve been fortunate enough to see it in theatres or at Comic-Con. Speaking of, coverage coming right up.

Cars Website Gets Revamped

Cars, Official Website

Posted by Martin • June 27, 2009

Rev your engines for the completely redesigned Cars website!

The updated official site doesn’t just focus on the movie like it did previously but also on products and even theme park attractions! When you first log on, you’ll notice the Radiator Springs themed home page featuring character’s you can scroll through and a video player, nice touches.

The menu includes everything a Cars fan would love. The Videos section features clips from the movie and Cars Toons. You can find Games like the The World of Cars Online and others found throughout Disney.com conveniently compiled on the site. An especially cool feature is the Characters section that profiles 16 memorable cars with bios, specs, downloads, photos and videos for each. Of course there are many other links to explore pertaining to the movie and the expanded universe.

Cars 2 and Carsland aren’t acknowledged on this site at all, so we should expect a huge update on the page in the next year!

(Thanks, woody from the Pixar Planet Forums!)

Pixar.com Partly UPdates! [UPDATE]

BURNE, Official Website, Partly Cloudy, Pixar, UP

Posted by Martin • May 30, 2009

Pixar.com, notorious for rarely making changes, has finally updated!

Update: The section for Up has now been upgraded to "Full Story" status. It includes a synopsis of the movie, characters intro and behind the scenes. There are also subsections for character bios and the inspiration for the movie. Check out concept art, full renders and quotes on the making of Pixar’s 10th film! The usual, but still worth a look through.

The site also features features the latest Pixar mini-productions, Partly Cloudyand BURN•E in the Short Films section. Both pages profile the short itself and the production of each projects, as usual, including some concept art.

The front page of Pixar.com (no changes to the design) has also gotten two new buttons. Replacing the WALL•E website link is a picture of Dug that links to Up’s official site. Peck from "Cloudy" is also on the home page, clicking on him takes you to the afformentioned film’s page.

Strangely, The Theater section of the site (in the Shorts section) has added the new shorts, but clicking on them just takes you back to their main pages.

Let’s hope later in the year we’ll get a Dug’s Special Mission page sooner than the BURN•E one!

Speaking of site updates, don’t forget to check out the brand new site for the Toy Story series!
